creating my space

this is the 'landing pad'. where all things come to roost. however it's only meant to house mail, some stationary and keys so i updated it today to make it more functional. i've had the white cubby and used them for many other purposes. this is where they have been repurposed. the mirror key hook piece has been in the garage since i picked it up from the curb 2 years ago. it came with a nice ledge that i'm using in my bedroom but never really had a use until i added these tiny brass hooks. tiny detail, world of difference.

this is one of those photomosaic puzzles. it's been on the kitchen table for about a month. my friend rory did most of the work. these things are almost impossibly difficult. in the end there were pieces missing and extra pieces! those were just a tease, 3 extra pieces that didn't go anywhere but i have to imagine they were repeats. i still have to hodge podge it and mount it and get the glass for the frame but this will all be done and it will be hung by sunday when rory comes home from seattle.

I had an hour and a half to kill/fill this afternoon so, I went to the Barnes & Noble at the Main Place Mall. I haven't been there for years but I like that it's two stories and that they keep their Literatura upstairs. I also like that the cafe is downstairs and therefore the upstairs is less crowded and noisy. These aren't the only books that caught my eye but i read a little bit from each of these. The first one is about Columbus and his hidden identity. Known works, diaries and recorded verbal accounts are used as the basis as well as this Codice 632 that was discovered not too long ago. The next book is a straight murder mystery. I like the author so, it caught my eye. The last one is written by a journalist and discusses the social psychology evolving around the violent and murderous kidnappings occurring in Mexico at the moment. These are now on my list, my very long list.

series: things i didn't buy

my best friend recently posted photos of some of her thrift store purchases. i mostly buy things that quickly get jumbled in with the rest of my stuff. occasionally getting mostly forgotten. it's sad but true. i've also often bought something and known that i bought it just for it's novelty value. in an effort to keep my purchasing confined to the realm of things i need or can use i take pictures of some of the things i leave at the store.

this one here is awesome, right? oh the battles they've had. they're obviously arch enemies... i know i should have bought these. they'd be sitting on top of my dining room armoire waiting to be handled by friends and strangers, waiting to be commented upon. so cool. this is why i leave these things on the shelves where i found them.

i'm working on a couple projects but there are 2 that i finished this week that will be posted soon. that's a project all it's own.

Bits of Pieces

I was framing things this morning. I was finding things to put in the frames that have sat empty some months and in 1 new frame that I purchased today at my favorite Thrift Store. I did find some precious things to put on display and I framed them beautifully. They are stamps. I am not a collector of stamps. At least that's not quite the appropriate classification. However there are a great many stamps that have been held onto in kind of a collection.

Once that was done I took a good hard look at all the other things that are being stored with these stamps. I found my list of Things to Do. I put this together during my senior year in high school and through my first year in college. There are things that have been removed from the list. Some that can be read and others that have been so completely scribbled out they are indiscernible. Most of it is still there full of things I've done and a few that I'm still working on.

What does this list say? I'm not sure. It's unfinished. It's realistic. Today it said to me "Start that Blog right now".
